Sanyouhai Shuzo was founded in 1837 and is located in the suburban town of Shiso. The area surrounding Shiso is said to be the historic birthplace of sake. Current Toji, Yuchi Tsobosaka has taken his family’s legendary brand to greater heights, and is responsible for this award-winning line of sakes that promises authenticity and consistency.
The Banshu region is one of Japan’s leading sake-rice producing regions, earning comparisons to grape growing counterparts in Burgundy; Banshu Ikkon constantly produces and uses the Romanee-Conti of sake rice in its sake production.
Though Tsobosaka’s ancestral home had to be rebuilt after it burnt to the ground in 2018, Banshu Ikkon has not ceased its production of award-winning sake. Selective distribution and seasonal release has ensured that Banshu Ikkon is an exclusive sake, one that sells out very quickly.
